Renée-Caroline-Victoire de Froulay de Tessé, Marquise de Créquy (born October 19, 1714 in the castle of Montflaux ; † February 3, 1803 in Paris ) was a French intellectual and salonnière , whose memoir Souvenirs de la Marquise de Créquy lived in Describe France under three kings, a republic and a consul.

Life

Renée married Louis de Blanchefort , Marquis de Créquy, in Paris in May 1737 . In the same year, after only seven months, she gave birth to a son, Charles de Créquy. After his father's death in 1741, he inherited his title and property, and his mother became his guardian. After the death of her husband, she founded a well-known and valued salon in Paris. She kept in contact with the greatest personalities of her time, such as Casanova , Voltaire and Rousseau , but also with ladies of the court, such as Madame de Maintenon .
