Marstall (Kassel)
The Kassel Marstall is a reconstructed building in the center of Kassel . The building, built from 1591 to 1593 in the Renaissance style , served as a stables and housed the princely art chamber and library on the upper floor . The Kunstkammer and library moved to the Museum Fridericianum in 1779 . The building was badly damaged in World War II . In the 1960s, the ruins were removed and replaced by a freely reconstructed new building. Today it is used as a market hall and also houses the Kassel city archive and the state image office .
