Marston’s is a British brewery and pub operator. The company's share is listed on the FTSE 250 . The company now operates six breweries and around 1,600 pubs in the UK .

history

In 1890 three breweries in the British Midlands merged: Banks and Company (Park Brewery) , Charles Colonel Smith's (Fox Brewery) (both Wolverhampton ) and George Thompsons and Sons (The Dudley and Victoria Breweries) ( Dudley ). The company traded as Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries . After the Second World War, the brewery was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1947 . In 1992 the Camerons Brewery were bought, but 20 years later it was sold to the Castle Eden Brewery. In 1999 the brewery and pub group Marston, Thompson & Evershed in Burton-upon-Trent were taken over . The brewery dates back to 1834. In the same year the Mansfield Brewery was also taken over. In 2001 production in Mansfield was closed and relocated to Wolverhampton. Today's company name breweries awarded in 2007 as from the Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries , the Marston's plc. has been. In the same year the Ringwood Brewery was taken over. In 2008 the takeover of Wychwood Brewery in Witney followed . The most recent takeover took place in March 2015 when Marston's acquired the trademark rights to the beers Wainwright and Lancaster Bomber from Thwaites Brewery ( Blackburn ). These beers have been brewed at Marston's since 2014. In May 2017 took Marston's the Eagle Brewery of Charles Wells for 55 million pounds . The brewery is in Bedford .

On May 22nd, 2020 Marston's and Carlsberg UK decided to merge the brewery business. Carlsberg will hold 60% of the new company and Marston's 40%. The pub business with around 1,400 pubs is not affected. This remains entirely with Marston's.
