Martín Aguirre Gomensoro

Martín Aguirre Gomensoro (born December 17, 1937 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † September 7, 2016 ) was a Uruguayan journalist .

From 1959 he worked for the daily newspaper El País . Since 1986 he has been its editorial manager and in 1996 took over the position of director of the newspaper. In the same position, he has also worked for Ediciones de la Plaza since 1984 . However, Aguirre Gomensoro also worked for other press organs. So he was in the service of Reporter magazine from 1962 . From 1972 and 1978 respectively he worked for the weekly newspapers Opinión Nacionalista and La Democracia . In 1969 he received a journalistic grant in the Netherlands and Spain . From 1976 to 1984 he was also editor-in-chief of the evening newspaper Mundo Color . Aguirre Gomensoro took part in human rights congresses in Portugal in 1994 and in Mexico two years later . In 2001 he received the Legión del Libro from the Cámara Uruguaya del Libro (CUDL) .
