The local chronicler Hildegard Müller, who has long been a member of the Low German group of the Heimatverein, said the following about Marta Rothe:

“Almost everyone can read her stories and poems without difficulty, her 'Platt' is sensational. 'Flat is your first language, your muddy language'. She only learned standard German at school. We who were born later speak Low German, but more like a second language, a foreign language. Although Ms. Marta Rothe has been away from Sommersdorf for almost 50 years and lives in Magdeburg, she is deeply connected to her homeland. After all, she lived in our circle in various places for the first 40 years of her life, for example in Hornhausen, Üplingen and Sommersdorf. She expresses her connection to our region in her poem 'Heimatliewe'. "
