The Martin Luther Church is a church building of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland in Rheindahlen , a district of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

In the 18th and 19th centuries there were only a few Protestant families living in Rheindahlen. In the 1870s, due to industrialization , Reformed people again moved to the village, who stayed with the Evangelical Community of Wickrathberg until 1908, but were then re-parish to the Protestant community of Rheydt, to which they belonged until December 31, 1969. On January 1, 1970, the Evangelical Church Community Mönchengladbach - Rheindahlen became independent. The former community center with a small community hall was located in a house on Max-Reger-Strasse in Rheindahlen from 1951. At that time, the prayer house was located in Mennrather Strasse 25 and there were plans to build a new community center as early as the early 1970s. The construction of the Martin Luther Church with an attached new evangelical community center began on March 15, 1982; the inauguration of the community center of the Martin Luther parish took place on November 6, 1983 - for the 500th birthday of Martin Luther . Since January 1, 1992, the parish has officially been called "Evangelical Martin Luther Parish Mönchengladbach - Rheindahlen" with the approval of the regional church. On October 6, 1985 the inauguration of the cross-bearer took place on a square in front of the church. The support is a 24  m high concrete column with three stainless steel crosses each 5.50 m high. The "Faith", "Love" and "Hope" bells, inaugurated on March 25, 1990, were completed on September 15, 1989 at the Rincker bell foundry in the Hessian sense and ring in a campanile built next to the parish hall .
