Martin Čížek (born June 9, 1974 in Vítkov ) is a former Czech football player .

Club career

Martin Čížek began playing football with TJ Dolní Lhota, and when he was ten he moved to the youth department of Baník Ostrava . In the 1991/92 season, the midfielder made his debut in the professional team. After 103 games and 22 goals, the left-footed player moved to Sparta Prague in early 1997 , for which he played for two years.

In early 1999 Čížek was committed by Bundesliga club TSV 1860 Munich , for whom he completed 33 games. He didn't score a goal. In the summer of 2000 Čížek went to SpVgg Unterhaching , where he experienced relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga.

After the 2001/02 season Čížek returned to his former club Baník Ostrava. At first he was still part of the regular staff, in the second half of the 2005/06 season he played less often. In the summer of 2006 Čížek was retired because of his too high salary for the club management and then ended his career.

National team

For the Czech national soccer team , Martin Čížek played 18 international matches between 1996 and 2000.
