Martin Brüns

Martin Brüns (born May 14, 1911 in Achim , Verden district; † October 12, 1976 in Bremen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Brüns attended the elementary school in Achim and then took up an apprenticeship as a typesetter. After four years of unemployment, he changed jobs and became a lathe operator . The change of profession was followed by ten years in shipbuilding in Bremen. After the seizure of power , he took part in illegal political activities in the resistance from 1933. After the end of the Second World War in 1945, he moved to the local government of the Rotenburg district.

He had been a member of the Free Trade Union since 1925 and since 1927 a functionary of the Socialist Youth Workers. Brno became a member of the SPD in 1930.

Between 1946 and 1952 he was party secretary of the SPD and was a member of the appointed and in 1946 of the elected municipal council. Two years later he became a member of the district council of Verden and in January 1959 mayor of Bierden. From April 1961 to September 1968 he was deputy head of the district of Verden.

Brüns was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the 1st to 7th electoral period from April 20, 1947 to June 20, 1974. In 1966 he was honored with the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . He is the bearer of the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .
