Martin Decker (born October 1, 1925 in Chemnitz ; † June 27, 2013 ) was a German architect .

Act

Decker was an architect of important social and industrial buildings in the early GDR. Its most important building is the miners' clubhouse, today's town hall in Oelsnitz / Erzgeb. With the monumental building in the style of post-war modernism, he created a complex structure, which, restored down to the last detail, still represents an outstanding example of architectural history from the time it was built. Other major major projects by the architect and long-time chief architect of the Ipro planning office in Karl-Marx-Stadt are, in particular, industrial buildings in Karl-Marx-Stadt (see Chemnitz ) and Jena. It is interesting to see how much his works consciously take on art in architecture. This becomes clear not only in the social buildings, but also in a number of architectural details on industrial buildings, e.g. B. the foundry "Rudolf Harlaß" (today Flender Guss Chemnitz). Decker also saw himself as a designer of artistic elements in many of his works or involved painters, graphic artists and sculptors in the design.
