Martin Hämmerle (textile entrepreneur)

Martin Hämmerle (born September 26, 1874 in Dornbirn ; † October 7, 1946 there ) was an Austrian textile industrialist .

Life

Martin Hämmerle, son of the textile manufacturer Otto Hämmerle, studied chemistry at the University of Vienna , where he joined the Corps Alemannia , which received him in 1897. After graduating, he went to Liverpool to deepen his practical knowledge in the textile industry there , before joining the textile company FM Hämmerle in Dornbirn, founded by his grandfather Franz Martin Hämmerle in 1900 . In 1905 he received power of attorney . Under his leadership, the company's workforce was expanded to 2,700 employees.

From 1902 he was a member of the board of the Association of Industrialists. In 1920 he became a member of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce , later chairman of its industrial section and vice president. He headed the Dornbirn Society of Friends of Music, founded in 1902, for ten years.
