Martin Herrmann (born December 3, 1956 in Erlangen ) is a German biologist. Since 2004 he has been an adjunct professor at the Institute for Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen .

Life

After obtaining the general university entrance qualification, he first studied chemistry in Würzburg and Erlangen. He then completed his degree in biology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen in July 1983. After completing his doctorate at the Institute for Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at FAU Erlangen in 1989, he was employed as a post-doc in this department and spent one year studying abroad at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA. As a result of his habilitation in December 1997, Herrmann was a private lecturer at the Institute for Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at FAU Erlangen and was later appointed as an adjunct professor.

Since his diploma thesis Herrmann has been dealing with a certain type of autoimmune disease , systemic lupus erythematosus ( SLE ). Since then he has worked on projects and collaborations in research in the field of immunology and specifically in research into SLE . (see also trogocytosis )
