Martin Herzberg (musician)

Martin Herzberg (born May 28, 1981 in Berlin ) is a German musician , musicologist and composer .

Life

Herzberg grew up in Berlin-Neukölln . From 2001 to 2007 he studied musicology at the Humboldt University in his hometown .

In 2003 he founded the Cloudbreak Records label . Since 2005 he has also been involved in the production of external acts and has so far supported a. a. the artists Maliq , Royal Golden Sound and Audio Arcade in their productions.

At the age of 23 (2003) he released his first solo debut album Silent Mirror Inside , which was stylistically strongly influenced by George Winston , Tori Amos , Moby as well as numerous New Age and ambient artists. With No Fear Required followed in August 2008 the successor to the first album. In contrast to the previous LP, the tonal spectrum was expanded through trip-hop productions enriched with vocals .

From 2008 to 2012 he devoted himself mainly to his dissertation in musicology. The core aspect of the work was to review the draft of an economy of attention developed by Georg Franck using the example of the music industry. The research project was financed by the FAZIT Foundation and supervised by Peter Wicke .

The studio album Lifelines of Music was released in 2014. Inspired by artists like Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen , it is purely instrumental with piano and strings and combines influences from film music and pop.

The new album Stars was released in May 2020 .
