Martin Hobek

Martin Hobek (born June 19, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Since 2015 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Life

Martin Hobek attended a commercial academy after primary school and secondary school . After graduation he began in 1988 a study of history, which he in 1995 with a thesis on the dilemmas and political contradictions of the Christian Socialists in Carinthia in the years 1933 and 1934 based on an analysis of the Carinthian Tagblatt at the University of Vienna as a Master graduated. He has been active as a book author and journalist since 1992, including writing for Die Aula and the Eckartbote . In 1995/96 he did military service, from 1999 to 2001 he trained as a tourist guide. From 1997 to 2015 he was an employee of the Club of the Vienna Freedom Party, from 2006 integration officer. In November 2018 he published a biography about Vice Chancellor and FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache in Leopold Stocker Verlag .

Since 1988 he has been a member of the FPÖ in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus , where he was a district councilor from 1994 to 2015 and served as club chairman from 1998 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2015. In 1994 Hobek was involved in the re-establishment of the Ring of Freedom Students . On November 24, 2015, at the beginning of the 20th electoral term, he was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and Municipal Council , where he is a member of the Municipal Council Committee for Social Affairs, Health and Sport and acts as the FPÖ's spokesman for the disabled. He is also a member of the municipal commission for the disabled and on the board of trustees for psychosocial services in Vienna and on the board of the sick welfare institution (KFA) for the city staff.
