Martin Huff

Martin W. Huff (born December 14, 1959 in Cologne ) is a German lawyer and publicist.

Life

After graduating from high school, Huff completed a law degree with additional training in economics at the University of Bayreuth . From 1982 to 1985 he worked as a research assistant at the chair for criminal law under Professor Dr. Dr. Harro Otto works. In 1985 he passed the second state examination in law.

He has been working as a lawyer since the beginning of 1986.

Professional background

From 1985 to the end of 1990 Huff worked as editor of the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift , then as editor-in-chief of the European Journal for Business Law ( EuZW ). In 1991 he moved to the business editorial department of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and stayed there until 1999. For his work he was awarded the 1999 Press Prize of the German Lawyers' Association.

From April 1999 to April 2001, Huff was press spokesman for the Hessian Ministry of Justice ( Ministerialrat ) in Wiesbaden. There he was also responsible for basic issues relating to the training of judges and public prosecutors as well as personnel development.

From 2001 to the end of 2005, Huff was one of the two authorized signatories and editor-in-chief (including the “Neue Juristische Wochenschrift”) at the publishing house CHBeck oHG. From 2006 to 2008 he moved to the media group Wolters Kluwer Germany (e.g. Heymanns, Luchterhand and Werner publishers) as head of corporate communications (member of the management board) and as editor-in-chief of magazines in the legal publishing group.

Since 2008 he has been the managing director of the Cologne Bar Association. He is also a lawyer in the law firm Legerlotz Laschet Rechtsanwälte (Cologne).

Further commitment and teaching

Since 1982 Huff has held the position of press spokesman and one of the conference leaders of the Deutsches Juristentag e. V. In 2001 and 2007 he was the press spokesman for the European Legal Conference.

Since 1987, Huff has been a member of the legal experts at Stiftung Warentest .

Huff has been a member of the State Prevention Council in North Rhine-Westphalia since May 2008.

Huff has been a part-time member of the State Judicial Examination Office in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2012 .

In addition, Huff has been a lecturer for several years at the Technical University of Cologne Cologne, where he holds a. a. Lectures on media criminal law, publishing law, introduction to press law. At the Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln he holds the lecture "Legal Tech for Business Lawyers".

He is co-editor of the Zeitschrift für die Anwaltspraxis ( ZAP ).
