Martin Kappas

Martin Kappas (born September 17, 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German geographer and professor at the University of Göttingen .

Life

After studying geophysics at the University of Cologne and geology and geography at the University of Bonn , Martin Kappas worked at the State Geological Office of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1990 he was a research assistant at the chair for physical geography at the University of Mannheim .

The dissertation in 1993 and the habilitation in 1998 also took place in Mannheim. From 1998 to 1999 he worked there as a private lecturer. Since October 2000 he has been a professor at the University of Göttingen.

Martin Kappas specializes in remote sensing, geographic information systems and general cartography . He heads the Cartography, GIS and Remote Sensing department.
