Ciba Vision is a research, development, manufacturing and marketing company for contact lenses and contact lens care products. Ciba Vision is part of Novartis , a pharmaceutical company based in Basel ( Switzerland ). Ciba Vision was merged with the former Nestlé subsidiary Alcon , which Novartis had acquired between 2008 and 2011. The business area created in this way appears on the market as Alcon Vision Care.

With more than 1500 employees, Ciba Vision GmbH is the largest employer in Großwallstadt and one of the largest in the Bavarian Lower Main . Another 125 employees work for Alcon Pharma GmbH in Großostheim . You are responsible for the marketing and sales of contact lenses and contact lens care products in Germany.

On June 29, 2018, Novartis announced that it would spin off Alcon and bring it to the SIX Swiss Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange
