Martin Möller (mathematician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Martin Möller (born April 25, 1976 ) is a German mathematician who deals with algebraic geometry and dynamic systems.

Möller received his doctorate in 2002 under Frank Herrlich at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (modular rooms of irregularly fiberized surfaces). As a post-doctoral student he was in Paris. He taught at the University of Duisburg-Essen , was at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn (2007) and is a professor at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

He deals with Teichmüller curves ( algebraic curves in modular spaces of curves), Shimura curves and generally fibrous complex surfaces and dynamic systems (including billiards in polygonial spaces that are related to Teichmüller curves).

He received an ERC Starting Grant ( Flat surfaces ) and is invited to speak at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2018 in Rio de Janeiro . In 2009 he received the Gay Lussac Humboldt Prize and in 2008 the Karl Arnold Prize .

He is a passionate racing cyclist and mountaineer.
