Martin Montanus
Martin Montanus (* after 1537 in Strasbourg , † after 1566) was a German poet and playwright .
Life
Montanus traveled through Bavaria and Swabia as a traveling student and made a trip to Italy in 1558/59. After that he lived in his hometown Strasbourg. In his tails, he leaned on the works of Boccaccio . His fairy tale about the Erdkühlein , which is part of the garden society , is at the beginning of the western fairy tale literature, the fairy tale about the brave little tailor can be found in the Wegerzer and served as a template for a version later published by the Brothers Grimm .
