Martin Niemöller (judge)

Martin Niemöller (born August 11, 1935 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH).

Life

Niemöller's father is the theologian and resistance fighter Martin Niemöller .

Martin Niemöller began his legal career in Hesse in 1964 after completing his legal training. During the three-year probationary period as a court assessor, he was employed at the Wiesbaden Regional Court and the Frankfurt am Main Local Court . In 1967 he was appointed to the District Court Council and worked as a judge at the District Court in Frankfurt am Main . From there he was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant and during this secondment in 1972 he was appointed judge at the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court. In June 1980 he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice and was a member of the 2nd Criminal Senate until he retired on August 31, 2000 , most recently as its deputy chairman. From 1990 he was a member or representative of a member of the Grand Senate for Criminal Matters of the Federal Court of Justice. As a federal judge, he primarily dealt with questions of criminal procedure law .

After his retirement he became a lecturer at the German law school in Warsaw .
