Then ensued a public debate about whether young offenders after serving their prison in preventive detention to be taken. Today he is serving a life sentence .

Life

Prinz comes from a simple family, grew up in Regensburg and was involved in a Catholic parish there as an altar boy. He attended secondary school and left it in 1992 after nine years. He then completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman in a supermarket .

Prince became known nationwide because, after his act on February 17, 2005, a nine-year-old boy from Munich sparked a public debate about whether preventive detention should also be made possible for juvenile offenders.

Prince killed the eleven-year-old altar boy Tobias H. in Regensburg ten years earlier. He lay in wait for him next to a Regensburg church, lured him behind the parsonage and intended to abuse the boy. When he defended himself and screamed, Prince stabbed his victim 70 times with a butterfly knife.

Martin Prinz was then sentenced to nine years in juvenile detention and sent to the Stadelheim correctional facility . He was sentenced under juvenile justice because he was certified as having a delayed development.

During his detention he met Peter A., the father of his future victim. He also remained conspicuous as a prisoner, a report from 2002 shows pedophilia, which, however, does not impair the ability to control. Martin Prinz was released on April 8, 2004. The final report classified him as "dangerous" but not mentally ill.

After his release he got in touch with his former fellow inmate and now confidante, Peter's father. He and the family were close friends. Prince were even entrusted with the supervision of the children. Ten months after his release, Prinz intercepted his victim on the way home from school. It was the day of the semi-annual report.

He took the boy to the facility where he lived on the grounds that his mother was at the doctor's. There he started to sexually molest Peter A. When Peter struggled and began to cry, he suffocated him with a garbage bag that had been specially procured for the crime and left him lying in his room.

The parents were already looking for Peter and Prinz even offered his help. When he returned to his room after several hours of supposed search, he abused the boy's body several times and then disposed of the body in the dumpster.

He was arrested a day later and immediately admitted the crime, including a detailed description of the incident.

Prince carried out his first act at the age of 16, as he confessed in therapy in the prison. He wanted to abuse a boy in a swimming pool, but was disturbed by another bather.

Prince is serving his sentence in the penal system in the Lower Bavarian city of Straubing .
