Martin R. Becker (born June 14, 1949 in Saarbrücken ) is a visual artist living in Krefeld .

Life

Becker grew up in Saarbrücken. He was artistically influenced by Richard Eberle , Jo Enzweiler and Horst Linn . He has lived and worked in Krefeld since 1974. In 1975 he was a founding member of the Krefeld Artists' Association (GKK), where he is also a board member. He is also a member of the BBK Lower Rhine. In 2003 he was a founding member of the Association for the Promotion of Art in Krefeld (KIK) and its chairman until 2006. Solo exhibitions have been held since 1977 and group exhibitions are regularly held.

style

The contrasts between black and white guide him in his picture inventions. In early drawings, traces of graphite dominated , removing them by wiping and erasing and then superimposing them, exploring the border areas where white had to give way to black, and the resulting tension. He continued these investigations with acrylic on canvas; brushes, squeegees and spatulas replaced pencils and rubber. Working on the PC and the resulting CBAs expanded his artistic spectrum.
