Martin Ignaz Schmeing (* 1962 in Lingen ) is a German musician.

Career

Martin Schmeing grew up in Osnabrück. He received piano and church organ lessons as well as instrumental lessons at the Osnabrück Conservatory in the field of jazz / pop with Hendrik Schaper . After graduating from high school, he studied music teaching in Osnabrück, and since 1982 Martin Schmeing has been a freelance musician and composer. In 1981 he was a founding member of the group Die Angewandte Schulkinder , from which numerous publications have appeared on vinyl, CD, DVD and film since 1984 and which realized the production The Princess with the Link at the Osnabrück Theater in 2008.

In 1982 he participated in the founding of the Pogo Pop music publisher with an affiliated label together with Marcus Praed and Michael Schroth. From 1986 to 1992 he was a member of Cliff Barnes and the Fear of Winning , which released records and played tours in Europe, the USA and the former GDR. As a studio musician, he was involved in productions by Ezio, Hoover, Cindy Richmond, Ganz Schön Feist, Viviana Kudo, Zweiraum Wohnung and Christian Steiffen, among others. Since 1990 he has been working as a sound specialist for artists from Wolf Biermann to Eretha Kid, from Alim & Fargana Qasimov to the Bremen Philharmonic, from the Syria Big Band to the Cinematographic Orchestra, the Morgenland Allstars and the Chinese pop star Perhat Khaliq with his band Qetiq. In this context, he made concert tours to Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and accompanied productions in concert halls in Germany, for example in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Pier Boulez Saal Berlin.

In 1995, Martin Schmeing and Marcus Praed founded the Fear Factory recording studio in Osnabrück, which moved to the Mill of Friendship in Bad Iburg in 2005 and has since operated under the name of the Mill of Friendship. Martin Schmeing works there as a sound engineer and producer a. a. for Perhat Khaliq with his band Qetiq, Kinan Asmeh, Morgenland Allstars, Christian Steiffen, Viviane Kudo. Martin Schmeing has been part of the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück team since 2007 and takes care of the sound requirements and audio documentation of the festival. This resulted in numerous live recordings on various video platforms and CD productions. As a composer he realized a. a. with Marcus Praed sound installations on the museum grounds of the Varus Battle in Kalkriese. In the 2011/12 season he worked as a musician / actor and musical director at the Osnabrück Theater under the direction of Katja Lillih Leinenweber in Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". In 2011 Martin Schmeing founded the UHUCLUB with Heaven, Jo Granada, and Tine Schoch. A show that was presented as the monthly annual general meeting of a fictional club, played monthly in the Grand Hotel in Osnabrück until 2018, and every 2 months from 2019 at changing venues in Osnabrück.

Since 2009 Martin Schmeing has been working as a producer, composer and musician with the actor and musician Hardy Schwetter on the project "Christian Steiffen & the original Haselandorchester". On October 11, 2013, Warner Music Group released their first album Arbeiter der Liebe. In the movie "I feel disco", which was shown at the Berlinale 2014, the character and music of Christian Steiffen play a major role. Further CD productions and participation in films both visually and musically followed, for example. B. Tracks in the Rita Falk crime thriller films.
