Martin Simon (singer-songwriter)
Martin "Kleinti" Simon (born June 17, 1966 in Bonn ; † June 5, 2000 there ) was a German songwriter .
Life
Simon grew up in his native Bonn . He completed an apprenticeship as a gas and water plumber and later began training as a trainee in a hotel, which he gave up prematurely in favor of a musical career. Simon was also a Lomographer .
In 1993 he founded the songwriting duo Joint Venture with his friend Götz Widmann . The duo's first appearance took place in October 1993 in the Anno Tubac pub in Bonn at the “Folktreff”. Joint ventures were best known for ironic songs about cannabis . Her songs also deal with a whole range of other topics, such as love, profession, being an artist or philosophy. They are characterized by a characteristic humor, but often also by a sad, melancholy mood.
Simon died of a heart attack on June 5, 2000 .
