In the summer of 2014 Tschurer ended his coaching career, but remained connected to the sport of football by offering his services as a quarterbacks trainer and continuing to lead games as a referee.

He was also on the staff of the German national team and was responsible for looking after the quarterbacks between 1997 and 2008. In this way Tschurer contributed to the European championship title in 2001, winning the World Games in 2005, the European silver medals in 2000 and 2005 and third places at the World Championships in 2003 and 2007.
