Martin of Cassian

Johann Martin von Cassian , (since 1867) Ritter von Cassian (born October 29, 1812 in Hanau ; † 1906 ), was a German-Austrian entrepreneur who was knighted in Austria for his services.

He came from Hessen and went to Austria, where he became general director of the lkk priv. Danube steamship company in Vienna . As such, he received numerous awards, including the Order of the Iron Crown (Austria) , which was associated with the elevation to the knighthood. In the Danube shipping he was in office from 1862 to 1887.

A medal was minted for his 25th anniversary with the company.
