Martina Eßer (born May 13, 1960 in Cologne ) is a German sports presenter.

Martina Eßer is a qualified sports teacher. As a competitive athlete, she won the title of German Junior Badminton Champion in 1978 and played in the First and Second Bundesliga . She began her journalistic work during her studies at the Sport University Cologne in 1985 as a freelancer for the WDR in the current hour . From 1988 she also took over the moderation of the program, in which she was initially responsible for the sports division alongside editor-in-chief Ernst Huberty . Since 1991 she has been the presenter of the program Kopfball , from the following year she presented the Friday sports show on ARD . This was followed by the moderation of the weekly live sports format Querpaß in West 3 from April 1993 . and from 1994 also the ARD breakfast television. Eßer, who lives with her family in the Ruhr area as the mother of two sons, has been part of the WDR aktuell team since 2008 .
