Martina Fischer (political scientist)

Martina Fischer (born December 26, 1958 ) is a German political scientist specializing in peace and conflict research.

Fischer studied political science at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin and received his doctorate there with a dissertation on the relationship between the military and society in Spain. She has been working for the Berghof Foundation for Conflict Research in Berlin since 1998 , an independent academic institution at the interface between conflict research and peace policy . From 2000 to 2011 she acted as the deputy head of their research facility (Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management). As program director, she is responsible for the Berghof Foundation's Southeast Europe projects. She is also co-editor of the Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation . Her main topics include "peacebuilding" and "dealing with the past in post-war societies". She has published or (co-) edited more than ten books and 200 specialist articles.

From 2001 to 2011 she was a member of the board of trustees of the German Foundation for Peace Research and was also a member of the executive board for five years. Since then she has been advising DSF as a member of the scientific advisory board. She is also a member of the presidium of the German Evangelical Church Congress ( DEKT ).
