Martina Huguenot van der Linden (* 20th century , † 1988 ) was a Dutch film producer who in 1973 with an Oscar for the documentary - short film Deze small wereld was excellent.

biography

Martina Hertogs played a small role in Charles Huguenot van der Linden's film Jonge Hart in 1936 . After filming, she became van der Linden's wife. From the start he included them in his work so that they would produce future films as a team. After the occupation of the Netherlands in September 1940, Paramount Pictures , for which van der Linden worked, closed its branch in the Netherlands. During the war years, van der Linden tried to make money by working for the German film market, as the couple now also had a child. This earned him a two-year ban after the war, during which he was not allowed to make any films.

In 1962 one of the most successful and appreciated films of Huguenots van Linden's Big City Blues was made . There was a chase in the building between a girl and a drunk young man that ended fatally for the girl. The film received an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Bear .

Martina and Charles Huguenot van der Linden were able to take home an Oscar in 1973 for their film Deze kleine wereld . The couple dedicated the documentary, which focuses on antique and mechanical toys, to their granddaughters.

The van der Lindens had a house in Amsterdam and, since the mid-1960s, another home in the Frisian village of Jubbega. The couple spent the last part of their lives there. Charles Huguenot van der Linden died in 1987, his wife Martina died a year later. Both were buried in the Jubbega-Schurega cemetery.
