Big City Blues is a 1962 American - Dutch short film directed by Charles van der Linden , which was nominated for an Oscar at the 35th Academy Awards .
content
The main characters, a black jazz musician, a boy with a white rabbit and a girl in a white coat, do not speak a single word in the film. The action takes place in an unfinished concrete building on an abandoned construction site. The protagonists seem to spring from a dream, at the end of which there is a rude awakening. The chase of a young drunk man and his senseless attack ends in death for the girl.

It is a Mayfair Pictures (III) production, distributed by the Nederlandse Programma Stichting (NPS). The Dutch Swing College Band plays , trumpet: Nelson Williams . Music in the film:

The film was first shown in May 1962 at the Cannes International Film Festival . It was revived on January 1, 1968 in the Netherlands, where it also had its television premiere on May 25, 2008.
criticism
