Lila Elaine McCann (born December 4, 1981 in Steilacoom , Washington ) is an American country singer.

Career

Encouraged by the great success of the barely 13-year-old country singer LeAnn Rimes in 1996, several record companies in Nashville , the Mecca of country music, tried to turn a very young singer with a “mature voice” into a superstar. Asylum / Warner chose Lila McCann, who started singing when she was four. At nine she had her first manager.

In 1997, when McCann was just 15, her debut album Lila was released , which went platinum in the USA for one million units sold. The first single, Down Came a Blackbird , reached the top 30 of the country charts. Her big breakthrough came with the second single I Wanna Fall in Love , which was released in late 1997 and reached number three on the country charts. In 1998 McCann sang the ballad To Get Me to You for the soundtrack to the romance film A Second Chance .

At the beginning of 1999 McCann achieved another top 10 success with With You from her second, gold-plated album and her only hit in the US pop charts at number 41. Further singles were able to place themselves in the country charts until 2008, but no longer in the top 40. Their contract with Asylum / Warner ended after their third, less successful album Complete . Then she tried in vain to build on the previous successes on the indie label Broken Bow .

After her promising career did not really get going, McCann withdrew into her private life, but still appeared occasionally. In 2005 she married the studio bassist Mike Wolofsky, with whom she also has two children. In addition, she built another existence as a family and lifestyle photographer. In 2017 McCann came back musically with the EP Paint This Town .

In June 2019, McCann published a picture of her wedding to a woman on her social media channels and announced her lesbian coming out in a press release.
