Martina Pohl (born October 26, 1961 in Aachen ) is a German chemist . Together with Maria-Regina Kula, Pohl was one of the winners of the “ German Future Prize ” 2002. She succeeded in stabilizing the enzyme formate dehydrogenase isolated by Kula through genetic manipulation so that it was inexpensive for large-scale processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and without environmental problems Side effects can be used.

Life

Pohl studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen University from 1981 to 1987 . She did her diploma thesis at the German Wool Research Institute at RWTH Aachen University. The doctorate followed in 1991 at the same institute. In 1991 and 1992 she worked there as a research assistant. In the course of 1992 she moved to the Institute for Enzyme Technology at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf as a research assistant . There she became a scientific assistant and head of the “Protein Design” working group in 1994. Pohl completed his habilitation there in 2000 for "Technical Biochemistry". From 2008 she was an adjunct professor at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and since 2009 she has been the head of the “Biocatalysis & Biosensors” working group at the Institute for Biotechnology 2 at the Research Center Jülich .
