Ines Eck

Ines Eck (born July 11, 1956 in Aue ) is a German author, graphic artist and Fluxus artist .

Live and act

Eck studied German language and literature (literature, language and cultural studies) in Jena until 1987 . After an internship at the Volksbühne Berlin and internship at the German National Theater Weimar and nominations for her texts for drama prizes, she decided to found an author's theater in Jena, won Friedensreich Hundertwasser for the theater extension, the city administration refused, Matthias Brenner staged "Werther says Lotte" in the theater Freiburg. Ines Eck left Jena and has lived as a Fluxus artist (word, image, sound, social) in Berlin since 2003 . She argues in favor of an unconditional basic security for all citizens as a prerequisite for participation rights about work goals and working conditions as well as for democracy. She grew up as the daughter of a literary family, Sina and Hubert Witt , in Leipzig in the vicinity of authors and artists.

Eck received numerous scholarships and awards, such as the Anna Seghers Prize ("Promotion of as yet little-known young authors from German-speaking and Latin American countries") from the Academy of Arts, residence scholarships from the Akademie Schloss Solitude (1990), the Literary Colloquium Berlin (1991 ), a grant from the Prussian Sea Handling Foundation (1994), a studio grant from Basel (1999), the Walter Dexel grant from Jena (1998) for an “experimental and uncompromising” work, a residency grant in Amsterdam (2000) and support from Kulturfonds, the Thuringian state government and the Federal President . In 2003 she and her work and life partner Torsten Kulick realized a studio stay at the Kunsthaus Tacheles, and in 2015 a guest stay at the Villa Massimo.

Eck realized "Texts for the illiterate and the international", graphics show influences from Pablo Picasso , Joan Miró and Marc Chagall , photo collages in grid structures. Kulick, Eck develop a bibliophile type of book, sound sculptures, film productions, they built up the Spandau art landscape, realized in cooperation a. a. with Aktion Mensch workshops (words, images, sounds, social issues) with children in socially disadvantaged areas. and founded the “Imaginary Academy of the Arts”.
