Alfred Döblin Prize
The Alfred Döblin Prize is a literary prize named after Alfred Döblin for unpublished prose , which was founded in 1979 by Günter Grass . Literary Colloquium Berlin and the Academy of Arts (Berlin) organize the literature competition every two years. The prize has been endowed with different amounts in the course of its history; currently (as of 2021) the prize money is 15,000 euros.
Since 2007 the winner has been determined by a "reading competition". The nominees are invited to the Berlin Literary Colloquium, where they present their texts and put them up for discussion. The readings of the nominees have been recorded - also since 2007 - and published as audio samples on Literaturport . The winner will be determined by the jury immediately after the readings; the award ceremony traditionally takes place the next day in the Akademie der Künste.
