Martina Gillian Topley-Bird (born May 7, 1975 in London ) is a British singer.

She became known in 1995 through her collaboration with Tricky on his debut album Maxinquaye . On the booklet, however, she was listed as Martine because of a typo . She also worked with him on Tricky's next two albums. In 1998 their artistic and private relationship diverged.

In 2003 her solo album Quixotic was released on Independiente Records, produced by Martina and the AMP9 producer team (Alex McGowan, Steve Crittall, Nick Bird) and Josh Homme. Tricky and Mark Lanegan were guest singers and can be heard on one track each. The album reached the final of the Mercury Music Prize in 2003 and was re-released in the USA in 2004 under the name Anything . The song Sandpaper Kisses was featured in the Fahrenheit video game .

In the following years she worked on her second album and sang as a guest singer a. a. with Gorillaz , Wesley Pentz , Primus ("Dirty Drowning Man" and "Coattails of a Dead Man" on the album " Antipop ") and Common . In 2009 she recorded the tracks Babel and Psyche with Massive Attack for their album Heligoland and also accompanied the band on tour.

In May 2008 her second solo album The Blue God was released. The first single, the second track from the album Carnies , was released on March 3rd.

In 2010 her third album Some Place Simple was released . This is a live album.

On June 15, 2018, Solitude was released as a single from the new EP entitled MTB Continued, which will be released in 2019.
