Marvell Wynne I (born December 17, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a retired American baseball player in Major League Baseball .

The center fielder began his professional career in Major League Baseball in 1983 with the Pittsburgh Pirates , in 1986 he moved to the San Diego Padres , from 1989 to 1990 he played with the Chicago Cubs . He then played another year for the Japanese club Hanshin Tigers in the Central League .

Wynne won the Eastern Division title with the Cubs in 1989, but lost to the San Francisco Giants in the National League Championship Series . His personal best season was 1984, when he set his personal record in all statistics.

His son Marvell Wynne II became a professional footballer.
