Mary Ann Swenson
Mary Ann Swenson (born July 8, 1947 in Pine Bluff , Arkansas ) is an American bishop of the United Methodist Church .
Life
After finishing school in Jackson , Mississippi , Swenson studied theology at Millsaps College in Jackson and received a bachelor's degree in 1969 . She then studied at the School of Theology at Claremont , where she received her Masters . On August 31, 1968, Swenson married her husband, Jeffrey Joe Swenson, in Elma, Washington. In 1992 Swenson was ordained a bishop. She is currently (2016) Vice-Chair of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches .
