from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mary Kiani (* 1969 in Drumchapel , Glasgow ) is a Scottish singer who had her first hits in the early 1990s as the voice of the Eurodance band The Time Frequency .

biography

Real Love was their only top 10 hit in the UK , reaching number 8 in November 1993.

Mary then signed a solo contract with Mercury Records and became one of the best singers on the dance club scene, dubbed 'Queen of Clubs'. She topped numerous club charts and her solo singles all made it into the pop charts. Their album Long Hard Funky Dreams , however, disappointed expectations in terms of sales.

Then Mary disappeared from the stage for a while. It only appeared with the all-Australian release Wrap You Up in 1999. And she contributed the title No Frills Love to some dance compilations (for example Gayfest 2003 ).

Mary is a popular singer in the gay club scene. In the late 1990s she opened the 'Slave' nightclub on Clyde Street , Glasgow. Because of the name Slave, the club was turned into an S&M club in the media , but the club was a normal nightclub and the name was reminiscent of their idol Prince .

She failed the club because of the media and its location on Clyde Street, which runs along the river and was in a shabby area at the time.

For September 2006 a promotional tour in Australia was planned for the album The Sydney Sessions to be released there .
