Mary McNamara (* 1963 in Baltimore , Maryland , USA ) is an American journalist , author and critic for film and television .
Life
McNamara moved to Westminster, Maryland with her family as a child . After graduating from high school there, she attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism . During her student days, she began working as a reporter for the Columbia Missourian newspaper . At the time of her graduation from the School of Journalism, she was writing for Ms.
In 1991, McNamara joined the Los Angeles Times as a column writer and editor, and became a television critic there in 2009. She has published two novels / crime stories about events and people in Hollywood to date .
In 2015 McNamara received the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism .
McNamara lives in La Crescenta , Los Angeles County , with husband and three children .
