The Mary Ward private upper level secondary school in Krems is a private upper level secondary school in the statutory city of Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria .

history

In 1722 the city of Krems approved the establishment of the English Misses and lessons began in 1725 in the school building specially built for this purpose. Since the state withdrew its previous support, the order moved the boarding school to St. Pölten in 1800 and closed the one in Krems. The school itself was expanded, however, in 1840 the building was extended and in 1852 a transverse wing was added. In 1910 a three-class community school was added , in 1919 a school for women in domestic economics and in 1920 a kindergarten. A girls' middle school was run between 1931 and 1945, which continued to operate in various buildings in Krems after the war. The Bundesgymnasium Rechts Kremszeile and the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Krems later developed from this . The English Misses 'girls' high school first became a 5-year high school, then a 4-year high school.
