Mary Whittemore
Mary Emerson Whittemore (married Mary E. Schlemm ; born August 15, 1913 in Boston , † unknown) is an American badminton player .
Career
Mary Whittemore, who played with the left, was defeated by defending champion Bertha Barkhuff at the 1938 US championships with 11: 7, 6:11 and 4:11. A year later she won the finals at the championships. In 1940 she was unable to compete in the national championships due to an injury. In January 1942 she married Len Schlemm , who was also extremely successful in badminton. However, shortly after the Second World War and the move from Boston to Montreal, she divorced him again.
