Masaki Toshiro

Masaki Toshiro ( Japanese 戸 城 正 貴 , Toshiro Masaki ; born April 13, 1980 in Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese luge athlete .

Toshiro is an employee and lives in Hokkaidō. He has been tobogganing since 2000 and has been a member of the Japanese national team since then. Since the 2002/03 season he has been competing in both single and doubles in the Luge World Cup . His first doubles partner was Goro Hayashibe , with whom he initially did not achieve any success. Things went better in the single-seater, where he was able to win several World Cup points. Nevertheless, he was then mostly used in doubles. In the 2004/05 season he was able to drive to twelfth place twice with Hayashibe at the start of the season in Altenberg and Sigulda . In the end they finished 20th in the overall World Cup. Toshiro has been driving with Takahisa Oguchi since 2006 . Her best result was a 13th place on her home track in Sigulda at the beginning of 2007.

At the 2003 Luge World Championships in Sigulda, Toshiro finished tenth with the Japanese team. He was able to repeat this placement in Nagano in 2004 . He was also on his home track together with his partner Hayashibe 15th in the doubles. In Park City he was able to improve again in 2005 with both the team (8th) and the doubles (14th) . Best result at a major international event was the twelfth place in the contest the doubles at the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin .
