Masashi Kudo

Masashi Kudō ( Japanese 工藤 政 志 , Kudō Masashi ; born August 24, 1951 in Akita Prefecture , Japan ) is a former Japanese boxer and WBA world champion.

Professional career

In his 6th fight he won the vacant Japanese middleweight championship belt , which he was able to defend several times. On August 9, 1978 he succeeded in the light middleweight Eddie Gazo over 15 rounds by majority decision to remove the WBA world title. He defended this title against Ho Joo and twice in a row against Manuel Ricardo Gonzalez . In October 1979 he lost him to the previously undefeated Ayub Kalule (30-0-0) by unanimous decision. After this defeat, which was the only one in his entire professional career, Kudo ended his career.
