Masayuki Ito (born January 19, 1991 in Tokyo Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese professional boxer in super featherweight and current world champion of the WBO association in that weight class .

Professional career

Ito made his professional debut at the end of May 2009 with a unanimous point win over four rounds against his compatriot Katsunari Fujii in the Korakuen Hall .

At the end of September 2013 he won the vacant WBC -Youth-World-Title when he won against Jeffrey Arienza in a 10-round fight in the last round by TKo .

In February 2015 Ito suffered his first and so far only defeat, he lost in the fight for the Japanese championship title against Rikki Naito over 10 rounds by majority decision.

In his next fight, which took place in the same year, he won the vacant OPBF title by a knockout victory over Dai Iwai . He defended this title three times in a row.

On July 28, 2018, Ito competed against Christopher Díaz for the vacant WBO World Championship and won on points.
