Mashpee River Reservation is a 248  acres (1  km² ) large nature reserve near the town of Mashpee in the state of Massachusetts of the United States , which by the organization The Trustees of Reservations is managed.

Protected area

The eponymous Mashpee River rises in Mashpee / Wakeby Pond and flows into Popponesset Bay at Cape Cod . The reserve is 2  mi (3.2  km ) of hiking trails that are part of the Cape Cod Pathways .

Until it was established, the reserve was owned by John W. Farley, who had gradually acquired it from 1915 onwards and transferred it to the Trustees in 1959. A camp in the reserve still bears his name today. The area was expanded by a further donation in 1979 and a land purchase in 1998.
