Tefta Tashko-Koço (born November 2, 1910 in al-Fayyūm , † December 22, 1947 in Tirana ) was an Albanian singer.

Life

Tefta Tashko was born in al-Fayyūm , Egypt , where her family emigrated in the late 19th century. In 1921 the family returned to Korça , and in 1927 Tefta went to France to study singing at the Montpellier Conservatory . From 1932 to 1936 she studied singing at the Conservatoire de Paris . In 1936 she returned to Albania, where she worked in opera and chamber music, and sang Albanian urban songs.

Tefta Tashko recorded 45 of her urban Albanian songs in Italy between 1937 and 1942 . She has been a singer at Radio Tirana since it was founded.

Her songs were written by the composer Kristo Kono .

Private

Tefta Tashko married Kristaq Koço , with whom they had a son, Eno Koço . She died unexpectedly in 1947 at the age of 37.

Appreciation

Tefta Tashko-Koço was posthumously awarded the People's Artist of Albania Award (Artistja e popullit) created in 1960 .
