Masjid As-Sabur

The Masjid As-Sabur ( As-Sabur - Mosque ) is the oldest mosque and according to its website "pioneering" Muslim community organization in the city of Las Vegas in the American state of Nevada . Her current longtime imam is Fateen Seifullah. It is one of the mosques that Akbar Ahmed and his team paid a visit on the famous Journey into America .

history

The history of the mosque dates back to the early 1970s and dates back to the Nation of Islam . The current Muslim community organization traces its history back to 1982. In 1975 the mosque, then called Masjid Muhammad , took part in the transition to Orthodox, Sunni Islam under the national leadership of Imam Warith Deen Muhammad . The Masjid As-Sabur consists of the mosque, the Fajr al-Islam School, a community health clinic and a number of committees such as Al-Ma'un (Neighborly Needs). The mosque has established itself as a leading Islamic institution and community work center in the state of Nevada.

Prominent visitors to the mosque include heavyweight boxing champions Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, as well as Laila Ali , Muhammad Ali's daughter.

Akbar Ahmed and his team were told that Mike Tyson, the "act of piety", had helped the mosque vacuum the prayer rugs. The boxer also donated a large sum for the current building.
