Massi Kessi (Portuguese: Macequece) is a 600 m high place near Mutare in the province of Manicaland in Zimbabwe right on the border with Mozambique on the road and railroad to Beira . The place is surrounded by the gold fields of Manica. He himself is in fact a suburb of Mutare. Accordingly, telephone, water, electricity are available, as are schools and hospitals.

Massi Kessi is a historically important place. It came in the 11. May 1891 in a bloody conflict between the settlers of the British South Africa Company with the Portuguese at Massi Kessi. As a result, the British government forced a treaty on June 11, 1891 , by which Manica passed into the possession of the British-South African Society. Until then, the Portuguese colonial area reached here beyond the eastern highlands to the Mazoetal , almost to today's Harare , Shamva and Mount Darwin .
