Massimo Pigliucci

Massimo Pigliucci (* 16th January 1964 in Monrovia , Liberia ) is an American philosopher and professor of philosophy at Lehman College of the City University of New York . The focus of his work is the theory of science . Prior to that, he was Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the State University of New York at Stony Brook . He is known for his criticism of creationism and his commitment to scientific and skeptical thinking. He received his PhD in Genetics from the University of Ferrara , a PhD in Biology from the University of Connecticut, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Tennessee .

He received the Dobzhansky Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution . He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal .

Pigliucci also has a column in the Skeptical Inquirer and is a member of the Brights movement .
