Josef Böck (wrestler)

Josef Böck (born June 22, 1913 ; † 1999 ) was a German wrestler .

Life

Josef Böck began wrestling at SC Apollo Munich and was part of the first team of this club, which was then wrestling in the southern Bavarian league. He proved his great talent by winning two German youth championship titles. For professional reasons, he was a Reichsbahn official, he switched to ESV Neuaubing , to which he belonged until his death.

Career

In 1936 Böck was German featherweight champion in free style ahead of Kolb, Schifferstadt and Georg Pulheim , Cologne . He then represented Germany at the Olympic Games in Berlin . There he remained unplaced after two defeats against Gösta Jönsson-Frändfors , Sweden and Norman Morrell, Great Britain . In 1940 and 1950 he was twice German runner-up in featherweight freestyle. After finishing his active sporting career, Josef Böck worked as a referee and functionary.
