Georg Pulheim (born May 25, 1915 in Cologne , † December 31, 1996 ) was a German wrestler.

Career

Georg Pulheim learned to wrestle at the State Railroad Sports Association "Olympia" in Cologne. At the end of the 1930s he formed the famous "Kölner Ringer-Kleeblatt" with Heinrich Nettesheim and Ferdinand Schmitz , which represented Germany at the European Championships in Oslo in 1939 . He advanced to the top German league in 1934 when he finished third at the 1934 German championships in featherweight, freestyle. In 1936 Pulheim was nominated for the Olympic Games in Berlin when he suffered a hemorrhage due to a dragged out flu and had to spend several months in hospital. So the start at the EM in 1939 was his only appearance at an international championship.

After the end of his active sports career, Pulheim worked as a trainer from the 1950s, including in Luxembourg , the Netherlands and Switzerland . He then became a NRW regional trainer.

International success

  • 1939, 4th place , European Championships in Oslo, Greco-Roman style, bantamweight, with victories over Johanssen, Denmark and Stokke, Norway and defeats against Kiiseli, Finland and Kurt Pettersén , Sweden .

In 17 international matches for Germany Pulheim came to twelve victories.

National successes

Georg Pulheim became German master in Greco-Roman style in 1939, 1941 and 1942 (always in bantamweight) and in free style in 1938 (featherweight) and in 1940, 1941 and 1942 in bantamweight. His toughest competitors were Justin Gehring , Friesenheim , Fritz Bischoff , Dortmund and Philipp Allraum , Mannheim .
